Prescriptions & Repeat Prescriptions
Prescriptions are available from us.
You may obtain relevant medicinal products from a veterinary surgeon OR ask for a prescription and obtain these medicines from another veterinary surgeon or a pharmacy. Your veterinary surgeon may prescribe relevant veterinary medicinal products only following a clinical assessment of an animal under their care.
A prescription may not be appropriate if your horse is an in-patient or immediate treatment is necessary.
You will be informed, on request, of the price of any medicine that may be prescribed for your horse.
The standard charge for a re-examination and further information on the prices of medicines is available on request.
Repeat prescriptions
Many of our patients require long-term medication and are eligible for repeat prescriptions. In most cases, these horses are seen every six months, although more frequent check-ups may be necessary, especially when starting a new treatment or for certain conditions.
If your horse needs some more of their regular medication, please contact us at least 48 hours in advance of when you’d like to collect it. You can do this by completing the Repeat Prescriptions form or by calling the clinic directly.
We kindly ask for two working days’ notice to allow our team time to order the medication if needed, confirm that it remains suitable for your horse, and arrange a re-examination if required.
All Horse Health Programme members are entitled to a 10% discount on the cost of medicines, with a 20% discount on some lifetime medications. Find out more
