Laboratory Services

At Corner House Equine Clinic, we offer a wide range of in-house laboratory tests to support rapid diagnosis and routine health monitoring.

Blood haematology enables us to assess the different types of blood cells, helping to identify issues such as infection, anaemia, and dehydration.

Blood biochemistry provides vital information on organ function, protein levels, and muscle enzymes—essential for diagnosing disease and monitoring ongoing conditions.

We also have a blood lactate analyser, which is especially valuable in emergency cases such as critical colic and suspected dehydration.

Our team regularly performs faecal analysis and worm egg counts. If submitting samples, please bring a fresh sample made up of several faecal balls and contact us in advance if you’re providing multiple samples.

We can also analyse urine and skin samples on-site. Our vets and nursing team are trained to perform urinalysis, sediment staining, and microscopy, as well as skin scrape evaluations, acetate tape impressions, and hair plucks. These tests are cost-effective, with quick turnaround times, and are highly useful for investigating urinary or skin-related concerns.

For more advanced diagnostics – including testing for Equine Metabolic Syndrome, Cushing’s disease, tapeworm exposure, and bacteriology or histopathology – we work closely with trusted external laboratories. Most results are returned within a few days, depending on the nature of the test.

All laboratory results, whether from in-house or external testing, are interpreted by our experienced veterinary team and communicated to you promptly by one of our vets.
